Geert Noels is the CEO and Chief Economist of Econopolis, a financial and economic advisory firm. He is widely recognized by the general public for his columns in various newspapers and his presence in economic TV and radio programs. His advice is frequently sought after by various organizations and authorities who appreciate his creative thinking and fully independent macroeconomic perspective. He is the author of “Econoshock” (2008), which explores the six shocks currently transforming our economy, society, and daily lives. “Econoshock” also serves as the foundation and guide for the strategies of Econopolis. His second book, “Gigantisme” (2019), argues against companies and organizations becoming increasingly larger and more powerful. Noels contends that this trend kills healthy competition, leads to unsustainable growth, and oppresses humanity. In “Gigantisme,” Geert presents ten solutions that adjust economic rules, tame the giants, and reintegrate humanity and the environment into the world economy. In recent years, Geert Noels has been extensively involved in strategic studies, including the vision for Flemish airports and the valorization study for the Einstein Telescope.
